Here is all we know about Off-White™ x Nike Footwear Collection

Nike collaborated with OFF-WHITE founder and designer Virgil Abloh on a shoe project in celebration of ten iconic silhouettes of the Nike, Jordan, and Converse classics dubbed "The Ten"

The shoe designs were divided into two themes, “REVEALING,” and  “GHOSTING.”

"Revealing" was designed to look accessible: hand-cut, open-source and reconstructed. It includes the Air Jordan I, Nike Air Max 90, Nike Air Presto, Nike Air VaporMax and Nike Blazer Mid.

Whilst  “Ghosting,” was designed with translucent uppers to further the idea of revealing and unite the second set of silhouettes through common material. It includes the Converse Chuck Taylor, Nike Zoom Fly SP, Nike Air Force 1 Low, Nike React Hyperdunk 2017 and Nike Air Max 97.

Following last month's announcement of “The Ten” collection, Nike is hosting “Nike Off Campus” events in New York City and London and is described by Nike as ‘a cultural destination and learning environment for the advancement of sport, design and innovation.’ The first session dubbed “The Ten: A Crash Course”, was hosted by journalist Phoebe Lovatt alongside Off-White founder/designer Virgil Abloh and VP of Nike footwear Andy Caine, for a conversation on design, collaboration and the journey that led to The Ten.

Virgil talked about his background, from days when he was a kid who was a big fan of Jordan sneakers and went on to discuss his latest collaboration with Nike. He further explained how the Air Jordan 1 was originally all white, then he saw a Nike Dunk at the airport and thought no one would be able to tell the difference. So he ended up switching it to Chicago colorway before the final mock ups had to be turned in. During the original design meeting, Virgil walked into Nike with an X-ACTO knife and started uncovering the layers of the sneakers. That’s how the deconstructed theme began.

It's not often that Michael Jordan asks people to sign sneakers for him, but he couldn't resist when he saw that Virgil Abloh was sending out customized pairs of the Off-White x Air Jordan 1 to friends and family.

No Vacancy Inn co-founder Tremaine Emory once shared the story of the gifting with ShowStudio in the latest installment of 'Best in Show.' Speaking on the significance of a Chicagoan having the opportunity to leave his mark on the Air Jordan 1, Emory touched on how the "AIR" JORDAN pair landed in the hands of the GOAT.

“I wish time travel existed, and you could go back and be like, ‘Virgil, 16-year-old, 18-year-old Virgil, you’re going to have a collab with Nike one day, with Jordans. And then Michael Jordan is going to text Nike and say I need a pair of those, and you gotta sign a pair to him,' ” said Emory.

The full collection including all ten silhouettes shown on images below will be available in November at NikeLab stores and select retailers worldwide.
