Nike Honours Influential South Africans with an Exclusive Air Force 1 'BHM Africa' Edition

United States of America commemorates every February celebrating achievements and milestones of Black Americans. Nike recognizes the significance of Black History Month (BHM) with not only a product collection but a larger recognition of the power of sports to impact the society. In honor of the global black history movement and also in celebration of their 35th Anniversary Nike also produced a collection of BHM Air Force 1s

South Africa was the first of the 3 countries in Africa to honor individuals who are influential among the South African community. With African influencers in mind Nike Designers made a signature AF1 fusing the country, continent and Pan-Africanism into the collection of BHM Air Force 1s.

The silhouette features a graphic print of the South African flag on the inner and outer of the all black upper with a snow white sole. A gold hang tag of the African continent hangs from one of the top shoes eyelets. The lace lock is made up of the colors that make up the Black Liberation flag, red, green and black.

35 South African honorees were hosted in Johannesburg for a special unveiling of the BHM Air Force 1 on Wednesday 27 September. Some of the notable influencers among the 35 people who received the BHM Air Force 1s were; Riky Rick (Rapper and Producer), Mkay Frash (Sneakerhead), Anele Mdoda (Radio and Television personality), DJ Black Coffee, DJ Fresh, Caster Semenya (Professional athlete), Itumeng Khune (Professional footballer), Scoop Makhatini (television and radio personality) to mention just a few.
